SUNDAY MAY FOURTH

Lake Tahoe, Angie visited and figured she would take a few pictures of her old stomping grounds.  she loves her new place, living near the ocean up in Newport, Oregon, but she has a few pangs of missing the lovely lake that takes your breath away.

Angie took this picture of lake Tahoe, Emerald Bay and Falling Leaf Lake.  Great Shot.   I still miss Nevada and its beauty.

I remember a story and a song about "The trail of the Lonesome Pine",  This picture reminded me of it.    some trees stay within their bounds but this one, aha, knows no bounds.   it is much like a whirling dervish spinning to its own tune.

Here is a great idea for a summer back yard picnic when you want to keep the drinks cold.  Not everyone has a big ice chest or a big barrel or bucket.   Great idea as long as the laundry is done.

I was glad to see this idea in case we lose power.  Never thought of it.  Not sure about it though.   Guess I'll have to experiment and see if it works.  Looks like one would need a big wide candle or a drip bucket handy.

How come I never thought of that.     Um . . .  maybe I'll fly up to visit Christine next time.

Here it is Sunday morning and I am almost awake.    We had a disappointing yard sale yesterday as it threatened rain all day and then when the sun came out for a minute it brought along a big wind and that is not good for yard sales.    The folks that came were not in a buying mood, maybe they got to our sale when they were tired an broke.   We did okay, but no where near what we hoped for.  A clean garage would have been a blessing.  Now we have to decide when and if we will hold another sale some months down the road or whether we will call the local thrift store to come and take it all away.  There really are some lovely pieces hanging around but no home has been found for them yet.  We worked hard and met some nice folks.   Some had been to dozens of sales and we had a few compliments on our sale, all to the good.    Pat and I went out for a Chinese dinner and were happy to put our feet up for the rest of the evening.

We are being treated to an early birthday dinner today.  Jock is coming in to cook up that huge springer he caught yesterday.    Pat and I both have May birthdays  and he is pretty special to include me too.    Did you go to a yard sale?  Hope so and hope you found a treasure or two.   I did get some books, you know, the ones I said I wouldn't buy again as I had more than I can read in my lifetime. . . but . . . a book is a book and reading is joyous so now I have my summer reads stacked and waiting for me to pull up my chair in the sunshine and read some summer hours away.    If you need a book you now where to go;  I'll share.

Have a restful Sunday and take time to contact a family member, a friend, a neighbor, someone you care about and let them know that it is a joy to know them and to love them.    Don't forget smile with your eyes and don't be afraid of a walk in hug.  Hugs to all.

May Day Part Two

The last of the tulips

Each day they shriveled and fell by the wayside.    So happy to see them arrive;  so happy to enjoy them in all their glory and sad to see them end so quickly.

Yes!!  Rocky and his two helpers came and spent a couple of hours making my garden look tidy.   I don't care for the jungle look when each bush takes over the other;  I just like neat. . . what can I say.

Rocky has promised to come back and give the grass some attention.  I don't think it has been fed in ten years.   I kept waiting for it to die out so I could have a brick patio and not have to worry about mowing and dandelions.

I have high hoes the two plants will take over.  wishful thinking, I know.

I am not sure if I started this puzzle two months ago or three months ago.   it is fused glass;  it is beautiful and it has three pieces missing.   I am bummed.

It has been a challenge and a half.   It has been impossible to put together.  It has been the puzzle from hell but Andrea and Bob wanted me to have a challenge and keep the mind alive and well so they thought to send it to me and I appreciate the thought but my vocabulary has taken a change and not for the better.   So I glad it is done, sorry it has three pieces missing as now I can't send it on to Andrea and Bob and let them suffer through it.   Oh well, I do have the satisfaction of having it as finished as I could do.

The window man came back and put the screens in today so I have a much cooler house.   It was like a furnace in her last night.  Our weather has turned hot but we hear the rains are due back for the weekend.   Pat called to say she had the vertigo checked by one of the Portland doctors but she seem to think there is no cure for vertigo as it comes and goes.  Why?   Something to do with the brain.    The M.S. most likely has something to do with her brain as the Mylar sheathing keeps disappearing in spots and leaves lesions.  so she tells me she may just have to learn to live with it.  Not fun.    We all pray for a cure for those autoimmune diseases.

So now you are caught up.   I wont be blogging tomorrow as I am off to Crescent City with my neighbor.  We are going to Walmart and get some exercise going up and down those aisles.   Then we will go have fish and chips and put the 'fat' back in our diet;

Be good, be kind, be generous and be careful.    Hugs to all.

May Day

I would love to hang a lovely little basket of flowers on your doorknob this morning.   It is May Day and a special Prayer Day so share YOU today.

This thought has been around before but it still needs to be a special thought today as we think of those we love who have gone on before us ;  family members who were so special and so loved.   Friends and neighbors called long before their time but in God's time.     How they sparkle.  Look up and say a prayer today.

The latest picture of granddaughter Erin.    She is keeping very busy and we have high hopes of another blog telling us a little more about her work there in Guyana.

The beautiful Oregon Coast.    We are having sunshine and 'hot' around here finally.   I almost feel guilty enjoying the sunshine and warmth while others in the country are having such a hard time with crippling weather, tornadoes, and now heavy rains causing flooding.    Keep them in mind when you have a few extra dollars for the Red Cross folks who are doing their best to help.   My friend in Arkansas has tornadoes passing over but they have  not touched the ground.   It is Spring and tornado season, but how does one get used to storms like that.    Mother Nature is on the rampage.    So say a prayer today, in fact say several and donate what you can to those in need.    Be good, be kind, be a friend and make someone you love the recipient of your hugs and smiles.   Throw in a flower or two and watch their world light up.

A Bit of Politics

A young lady, Marlin Shark, of Staunton, Virginia took her camera for a walk in the park and discovered a rare albino ruby throated humming bird..   How lucky we are she shared.

A little humor  this morning.    The penalty for being nosey.

Voices from the Black Community.

Here it is Wednesday, Hump Day, a day that says we have time to complete our chores before the weekend comes.    Time flies like the little albino hummingbird who flits from flower to flower without a thought to the passing seconds.  Once gone they can never be retrieved, so don't waste any.    Think of the word balance and start a campaign to balance your life.    Take time to live each second doing the things you love to do and make good things happen right where you are.  You set an example of good, bad or indifference with your thoughts, words and deeds, so, choose  to be a 'force' to be reckoned with and bring love, life and laughter into your seconds, today and every day.    Put a smile in your eyes, love in your heart and share one of those big bear hugs today.    Hugs to all.

Advice

The flower pictures have been wonderful to share.   This is the last of them so I will have to go hunting for some more pictures of nature's gift to us.    My tulips have gone by the wayside, each little petal fell off and made a beautiful pile on the credenza.    I thought to put all of them into a dish but then they would turn brown and lose their colors and my smile would turn into a frown.    I wish flowers lasted longer once they are cut.  I guess I will have to go out and snip a few of the rhodys which are now in bloom.   I have some red and some purple ones that are lovely.

As you know Bob and Andrea have built a new home and it is almost finished to their satisfaction.  This is the new automan designed by Andrea and built by Bob.  As Andrea said they have a table and a seat for extra guests.  They did a great job and look at the fireplace and the little alcoves.   Great taste and so lovely.    You guys do such good work.   Blessings in your new space, may you be happy ever after and entertain family and friends often.

The faces of those with no moral values.

Speaker John Behner did a bit of stage play this week when he accused the Republicans of finding their duty 'to hard'.  His whine was on television for all the world to see.    Sad to think that our representatives haven't got the courage of their own convictions.     Republican or Democrat they are shirking their duties and letting America go to hell in a hand basket.

Such a wonderful character, such beauty and grace and fun.  Jennifer tops the list with her fancy furry ear muffs.

words to live by.
Here it is Tuesday already, time flies when you are busy.    I baby sat Emma yesterday while Pat was off for her checkup.  It is pretty bad when you have to drive all the way to Medford for a fifteen minute check with the doctor.    We have a new so called medical building here in Brookings but it seems to be useless.  Maybe the doctors just don't want to come to this town, and at the rate it is declining I don't blame them.    Pat tried the ride program and her driver was one who loved to tail gate and speed.  He didn't mind talking with his hands off the wheel and she all but kissed the ground when she arrived in her driveway.    Her foot is healing and the stitches come out next week.  Her next session is in June and it will be a bigger operation as it will require pins and metal inserts so she can continue to walk without pain.    Meanwhile Emma and I did a little weeding in the sunshine and then caught up on a few more chapters of "Heartland" on the Netflick.    So today is catch up day here at home.   My Monday chores are waiting.   Come to think of it, if the sun is out today, the chores can wait another day or two.   Sunshine is much more important after our rainy sessions.   So if you have sunshine today, get out there and enjoy it.   Try not to get a sunburn.  What is that old adage. . . something to do with time;  'to laugh, to cry, to get on with life. . ." so do it, with a smile on your face  from the laughter in your heart.    Hugs to all.

Words

Wise words to follow.   A woman who gave her all and did not regret a second.

No words, just a beautiful path way.   Wish my rocks looked like this.

I have never seen a reflection of a rainbow;  beautiful isn't it?

It should be a truism but is it?    Without faith and hope our lives become a huge void of love and trust.

Here it is Monday all over again.  A new week, the end of April coming up and a brand new month heading our way.    We have had more than our share of April showers, so we are looking forward to lots and lots of May flowers.    I did get an hour in the garden this week so have a big black bag of dead limbs to get rid of today.   I forgot all about it so I will have to love you and leave out and go get the bag out front before the garbage truck comes by.      Duty calls.    Get busy and take care of some of your duties this morning and do it with a smile.   I'm working on it.  Hugs to all.

Graceful

Lilacs.    One of the first signs of Spring.    How colorful and how wonderful they smell.

You don't have to 'fall' all you have to do is find your way down to the lowest cupboard to clean it and find you can't spring back up so then you can decide if you want to crawl to a nearby chair to help yourself up or make good use of your 'down' time and finish cleaning a few other low cupboards.    I've put my low cupboards on my honey do list and will let someone else do that job.

See, just what I've been saying.     Hugs . . . even the word sounds good.   Share a few today and find out just how much love you feel.

This is not a cloud but an actual wave .   Shore Acres is a wonderful place to visit here in Oregon.

The wave action is tremendous.    It also has one of the most beautiful Christmas light shows and thousands flock to see it.
Here it is Sunday already, the weekend all but gone.    Hopefully you will use your seconds wisely today.   Do something wonderful.    Only you know what that can be to make your day special.    It is a day for God, for Grace, for Good, get busy and make it a day to call your soul your own.     Don't forget it is much easier and much better when you grin from ear to ear;  hum a snappy tune and make your feet swing and sway.   Just make it a share day and enjoy.   Hugs to all.
