Under Attack

An attachment came in with all  of this wild life busy in their world.    Each pictures shows how hard each of the species has to work to live and survive.    Each beautiful creature wants to survive but, as you can see, at the cost of another.   How sad, reminds me of what is ongoing in our world right now.  The old adage of 'life is not fair' comes to mind.

We have thunder but no lightening that I can see and no rain drops.  What we need is a good soaker .  It is cold in the house this morning.   I think we are in the low sixties this morning.    It is August, summer time; but feels like an early Fall is about to start.   We noticed the trees along the highway were turning yellow already when we rode up to Bandon last week.    Guess I will have to find another puzzle to do as Pat and I finished an oversized one this week.  It was fun to do,  drive in with lots of beautiful old cars of every color and car hops serving customers so there were plenty of faces to find.    A fun one.

Do one good deed and count your blessings.    Make someone in your life shine today.    Bring the gift of YOU and make your family and friends light up your corner of the world.   Hugs to all.

Sunrise

The weight of the world on his shoulders.

Angel Oak in  South Carolina, only 1,500  years old.

Antarctic Beech - Argentina, Chili

Flamboyant tree of Madagascar.

Andrea and Bob sent a picture of the sunrise in Prescott, Arizona.    What a picture.   Looks a bit like the atomic bomb picture .  I thought tornado for a minute, but that must be one of those famous downpours of Arizona.    A bit of flash flooding.   It is also a picture cloud as you can study the formations and see all kinds of things.   The flight of an eagle, the face of a man, a broken heart and the awesome power of Mother Nature.

A new week, wonder what it will hold for all of us.    The news, the Sunday pundits,  the divisions, the ugliness of bullies in our world and no easy answers.   Everyone has an opinion.  Everyone has words to sputter and ignite but no one seems to have the answer on how to make peace in our world.  the abject attack on Governor Perry of Texas is such a political ploy to show him he can't stand up and protect his own State .  I hope he proves to be the winner and does keep the border closed to illegal traffic.  His example may catch on and the borders will be closed all the way.  The personal attack is ludicrous.  I think we should send him a 'tweet' telling him we are on his side.   We wont go into the horrific spectacle about a young black eighteen year old who decided to play bully and steal and then resist arrest.  The outcome horrendous for him, his family, his town and a tax payer boon to the big shots of D.C. running to keep the hate race on going.    Politics at its worse.   Like the big cloud in the picture above, the world is exploding and our little globe is shaking in its boots.    So today, pray a lot for all of us.    Hugs. to all.

More Trees

The Baobabs of Madagascar

The Dragonblood which has crimson sap

A South Carolina Oak

Wind Swept caused by artic type winds of New Zealand

No trees, just a little political humor for today.

Sunday and it is after four a.m.  I have been on the computer since three.  There was an update on one of the programs and I went  for it;  silly me;  now I cant get back in and I am getting nowhere trying to restart a password.   Oh well, I may not Skype again.  Oh to be computer literate.  Need my kids to come home and straighten things out for me.

It is Sunday and the political pundits are on this morning.   It will be interesting to hear what they have to say about all the immediate crisis.  It is something to watch as the big news of yesterday gets hidden in the back rooms while the latest immediate problem is inundating the tube.   What happened to the influx of children?  What happened in Iran?   Why are they blatantly threatening the Governor of Texas  we know that one, he is standing up to be counted and it makes him a target.   Guess I'll go find out if there is any thing new and different going on this morning.   Coffee here I come.    And a cat nap or two before the morning is over.   It's Sunday...all day,  a day to rest, so join me . . . rest your body and your brain today.  Hugs to all.

Trees

I took the test and know I am a very ancient soul.   I already knew that .

How they dated in the fifties;   we've come a long way from respect and innocence .

This was on Facebook and I thought it was a good thought.   We take God out of our lives and what do we have left?  Nothing!!

Imagine having no prayers, no hope, nothing to believe in.

An attachment came in yesterday with trees from around the world and the beauty is striking.  Here are the first few starting with a gorgeous Wisteria , 144 years old.

Cherry Blossoms - Bonn, Germany

Maple Tunnel. Portland, Oregon

Dark Hedges, Ireland

Dark Hedges, Ireland in daylight.

125 year old Rhodendron .   What mine might look like if I stopped clipping.

Here it is Saturday morning and I wonder if you are out of bed yet.   I woke up at four a.m., not unusual for me, but no desire to stay put so I started the coffee pot, put on the television for the latest news and fired up the computer . . . and here I am.   Awake??? That's a maybe.   Ready to blog???  Always . . . well, maybe not always, only when the brain is awake and words flow . . . not this morning . . . I'm thinking I hope you all have a great day, soft breezes and cool temperatures.  I hope that you have plans for your day that include one good deed, a visit to a sick friend, a tiny gift for someone who feels a bit lost and lonely and a big smile for everyone you meet and greet today.   Go, enjoy your Saturday.  I am going to go and enjoy my coffee and maybe toast a piece of cinnamon bread.  Go!! Light up your world.   Hugs to all.

Statues

Look in and around your little circle of this world and maybe, just maybe  you will find a few reasons to smile.

This gives me chills just looking at it.  I'm a coward, no way would I ride on that.  I have a couple of family members who would be first in line and go back again and again.

Mustangs by Robert Glen, Las Colima, Texas. USA

The monument of an anonymous passerby, Wroclaw, Poland

Expansion, Paige Bradley, New York
The sculptures and statues from around the world came in on an attachment.  There was just too many for one blog.   An amazing talent by so many artistic folks we never heard of.

A truism.

It is Friday already, another fast week, another cool week for us here in Brookings.   We had a light mist but no big rain storms on the coast.   Inland they had lightening so there are fires to put out.   The firefighters do such a tremendous job in their efforts to keep the fire under control and contained.   There is on up near Grants Pass which is proving difficult and folks have been told they may have to evacuate.   Say a  prayer they get the promised rain storm which would help to get the fire under control.

The birthday luncheon went well yesterday. I had my first taste of calamari and it was delicious.  I think I'll order it the next time I go out to dinner.   I had a cup of clam chowder and ordered the child's portion of fish and chips which turned out to be just enough and very tasty.   Pat had fish tacos which she enjoyed.  I found the conversation interesting as both ladies are always looking for treasures at yard sales and have been successful in finding a small trinket or two.   Marcia showed us a string of pearls that she found at a sale and they were very beautiful.  I bet they are valuable, at least they looked like they were.   Pat has been reaching coins and has learned so much in a very short time, and I am learning as I listen.  The old adage of never being to old to learn is a true one.

So today, learn something new and different.   Give your brain a walk around a thought and follow it through.    Know half of August has already gone which shows how fast your seconds tick away.   Don't waste your seconds, put them to good use as you share YOU with those you love.   Speaking of sharing I had an e mail from a friend who bought some extra $5.00 coupons at MacDonald's to share with a 'street-person' who is down on his or her luck.   No one really knows the history of the street people so judging is not ours to do.  A bit of food and a hot drink may be the turning point in their lives.    Keep that in mind, as 'there but by the grace of God, go I'.   Hugs to all.

Look

Here is Judy's grandson Joseph showing surprise with a new toy to play with.   That mind is going a mile a minute just  like grandma.  "Wow . . .look what I have"

Here is just the garden flowers I need.   No watering, no wilting, no problems . . . good idea for the gardeners with purple thumbs.

Way to sweet en your drink with chemicals.   Cheaper too.

Love that Pooh bear and piglet too.   A truism.

Ah!!  Flowers make the world go around.

Thursday already, sure hope your week is all you want it to be.   Today, Pat and I are catching up with our friend Marcia.  Her birthday was a few days ago but we couldn't get together to help her celebrate. Late birthday celebrations are fun so today is the day and she has chosen the restaurant at the Port to enjoy fish and chips, and  come to think about it, Slugs and Stones is open and has lots of ice cream choices for desert.   Check your birthday list and find out who is having a birthday and plan a celebration.   Sharing is caring and fun.

Our lives go on in spite of all the horrendous terrorists war and inhuman behavior.  The threat is geared towards us as their hatred expands.   It would be interesting to be 'a bug on the wall' and hear what is being said in D.C.; or at Martha's  Vineyard.   The President has strong military men and women at his beck and call if he would only take the time to learn and listen.  But, it is August and vacation time and like Scarlett, tomorrow will do . . . sad and worrisome as our world, as we knew it, is falling into a hell we don't need or want.  I am thinking a little knee bending won't hurt.

So today take time to light a candle.  Take time to be good, kind and benevolent.    Remember the one good deed that is needed by someone to survive.   Be strong and help by keeping your little corner of the world alive and well.    Share YOU with those you love and walk into a hug or two.   Hugs to all.

WOW!!!

This is no time for conversation;  sure hope the rider had a chance to move out from under.

Wonder is someone offered the dog a treat.

This is MY terrirtory!

Now this is sharing.

Doesn't this picture make you want to join in . . . all ready! . . . Good morning to you;  Good morning to you.  Good morning, Good morning, Good morning to you.

wonder what was in that drink . . .

Hump Day, the catch up day.    We had a little misty rain yesterday but Pat and I took the ride up to Bandon and rode in sprinkles, sunshine and fog as we followed the early morning truck drivers on their way to work.   One can never go to fast for a trucker.   We had the road to ourselves at times, and that is always a good thing, as we could take in the views.   There was one curve of the road that you could look out the windshield and see the mountains in the distance covered in a top layer of fog.  A misty awesome picture that was truly beautiful, a calendar picture, and no camera with me.   No matter how often we have driven over these same roads along the coast, the views are always spectacular.

We did get to look into some of the stores but didn't buy anything as the summer visitors are out and about and the prices are ridiculously high.  The Laurel Birch cups were in and I thought to add one to my collection, but they are now  made in China.   I will settle for the originals made in California and know I have a treasure to enjoy.  The new fall  jackets were in at $145.00 , made in China, no quality and the same went for the 't' shirts which were priced at $27 for short sleeves, and $29 for long sleeves . . .   and the store owners cry because business is bad.   We didn't stay, rode to Jock's to pick up Emma who had a play date with Gunner and Joey.   Jock and his buddies had just returned from fishing and Jock was fileting a huge salmon.  They were allowed one  yesterday and there must have been a hundred boats on the river.  A good day and they will probably be out there again today.

So if someone invites you to go fishing today, don't hesitate, go and catch a big one.  Think of the smile that will light up your face and think of the delicious dinner you will have tonight.    There is always the fish market if you don't have a river or an ocean to play in.    If you do catch a fish, be sure to share as it always taste better.    Don't forget, one good deed today, and, while your at it don't forget to bend you knee and say a prayer or two or three for those who are hurting today.  Hugs to all.
