Sad rhetoric . A man who had led America into chaos and smiles while he does it.
Here it is Saturday morning, foggy and very cool in the house this morning. The forecaster tells us that we are going to heat up and the winds are coming back. A good thing really as this is the Kite Festival weekend and there are lots of folks in town. The kites are always a marvel to look at and sometimes I can see one or two from the back porch. Still no pictures to show you from the vacation. Daughter Christine is a busy lady and she will get to them , but when??? who knows.
The trip itself was to check out the area and see what kind of living quarters we could find closer to Christine, better medical for Patricia and smaller quarters for me. The house hunting the ladies did proved to be very old ready to tear down houses or very high priced homes that needed work. Finding an apartment for me was easy and I'm thinking about it. In between we found some time to visit a lovely bay with the Mercantile restaurant for a breakfast that was delicious and expensive. Of course! The lemon ricotta pancakes were like floating clouds ; yum! We went to Sequim to visit the lavender farms which were so beautiful. The store has every imaginable product made from the lavender including ice cream. We stopped along the way to see what a 'hoarder's sale' was like. It was a sale out in a rutted field and had loads of very dirty and unclean 'things' but had some interesting pieces and jewelry and negotiable prices. We left it all behind. Sequim itself is a small town and they had an open market on the main street. I found a nice thank you gift for Christine there, and let her pick it out herself. It was a cup set, bright red and a good size. The top had holes so you could use it as a berry bowl, even had a spoon. Different, useful and certainly bright. The lady artist was very friendly and told me she is going to teach a class at the college . Her bowls and dishes were lovely in color and style. A bit different and priced right. We ended our day at Port Townsend where we had a cup of chowder that was delicious and went on to a huge house that had three floors of antiques. Each room was filled with treasures from years and years ago. The prices were treasures to so everything stayed right where it was. A fun day.
I had a nice surprise when Sheila Mary called and invited me out for a ride to the casino. I didn't say no. Off we went and had a fun day, didn't win any, didn't lose any, had lunch and saw some new machines that say penny machine but when you look at the keys the price starts at three dollars and works up....I'd say the casino folks have gone crazy. Who has that kind of money to play with...not me.
I got to see Sheila's gardens and she is a marvel. She has some of the most beautiful plants and flowers and vegetables as well. Her tomato plants are in pots and have grown at least three feet high, all staked and all in bloom ready to produce some beautiful tomatoes.
So when I get the pictures I will post them and you can enjoy the sights and see what Washington state is like. I'm off to have my coffee, wake up and catch up with myself. I hope you will too and have a very special day doing the things you love to do. Be good, be kind, be gentle and feel good about yourself. Don't forget one good deed today. Hugs to all. |
