More Orchids

I think this was called 'the alien' ;  looks like one to me; a calceolaria uniflora.

Monkey Face a Dracula Simia

The Angel; Habenaria Grandieformis;   a lovely angel so bright and beautiful.

The Dove; Peristeria Elata;   a cutie;  saying hello.  You have to admit that orchids are special.

A truism;  words to  ponder.

I am happy my friend Angie is alive and well.  She has a way of living life that makes me want to be young all over again and have a little of her courage and personality.   She is standing in front of a mattress truck;  who else could find something like that to make you laugh out loud.

Go be an Angie today and find something to make you light up the world around you.   Enjoy the flowers; the weather; the people you love and don't forget the good deed.   Someone needs a hug.  Someone needs a little of your attention.  Someone is waiting patiently for their 'gadget' to light up and a few old fogies have a land line that needs attention.   Be good, be kind, be gentle and use those seconds wisely.  Right now use them to have your coffee and wake up; that's what I am going to do.   Hugs to all.

Dance Ballerina Dance

An Egret (Habenaria Radiata)

Snuggled babies (Anguloa Uniflora)
Andrea sent me an attachment of beautiful orchids that should be shared.  The beauty, the similarity to other people, birds, objects is intriguing. I'll add a few so you can enjoy them each day.

If you decide to vacation at a beach this summer, be sure you check the water.  This is a picture of shark infestation.   Wonder where they are going in such numbers.

This is quite a shot.    It has a nice feel to it . . . moon shadows.

Hump Day, gets here on time every week.    Mid week . . . half of June gone already;  I am enjoying the cool of the wind, we are having, but it does not help the balance while weeding in the garden.  I got a whole big bucket filled yesterday.  The ivy wants to take over as it winds and binds within the bushes.   Pesky stuff.  I had a call from Rocky who is overdo in mowing this month and now I know why.  He is a short fellow and had some tall bushes to use that big heavy electric clipper and it proved to be too much.  He is now down with several problems he is hoping his chiropractor can put back together.    Say a prayer for him and one that the grass wont  grow to fast until he is better.

I hope you have plans for your hump day.   Pat and I are going to  work more on the yard sale set up.  It takes a lot of work and time and patience.  We could use more tables but will have to rig up a door on some 'horses and spread out a bit.   Meanwhile. Pat is taking back some lovely looking oranges this morning.  They proved to be duds.  Large, colorful and what I would say 'frozen' insides.  You cannot even get juice out of them if any at all it would be less than a spoonful.   The growers must have frozen the oranges when they had some problems with weather this past year and are passing them off as big and beautiful but beware as these are useless, no taste, no life to them.   So we live with disappointments and we survive.  We just have to be very careful buying foods these days.    So when you go marketing today for the weekend, keep a close eye on the produce.   I can tell you the watermelon is good, see, the day is not a total loss.   Enjoy your seconds, be good, be kind, be gentle and don't forget the one good deed today.   Be loving, be hugging, be smiling and you'll make it through the whole day.  Hugs to all.

Teas

Mother Nature at her best.   Angie took this picture up in Newport, Oregon and went looking for that pot of gold at the end of the rainbow as it ended close to her house.  Maybe she realized she found it in the beauty of the rainbow.

I had other pictures but they just disappeared into the no mans land of the computer.   The special Alice in Wonderland theme went over big.  Pam looked so cute as Alice and the table of tea cups was set up so each could choose the cup they loved the most.   The food was excellent and not a crumb was left.  A successful affair , one  more for Chris, Pam and the ladies who worked so hard to make it successful.  They never stop as plans are in the offering for the next event.

Angie with Mac;  wonder where Queso went.   Beautiful dogs, such fun and good companions.  Angie treats them right and gets lots of hugs.

Marge took this picture of a little plant that grew and grew.  What a beauty.

George Carlin had a way with words.   He could make you laugh or cry, or wish he'd speak softly and not carry such a big 'stick'.   Here he left us with words to think about.

So make use of your seconds today and make a decision to read George Carlin's words and change your life style so you add life to your years.   There is much to do, one day as it comes, make decisions that will leave no room for future regrets.    Enjoy the seconds as they come remembering the old adage of 'you get out of life what you put into it, no more, no less'.   Be good, be kind, be gentle and spread a little joy around today.   Hugs to all.

Won

Good Advice, now let us hope our illustrious Congressmen and Senators heed this advice.

Wonder what they are called.   So many names for so many beautiful flowers . . . even the funky ones.  These make me smile.

We are gearing up for another yard sale in hopes of down sizing.   I needed a fancy plate yesterday and went out to the garage where tables are being set up and some lovely dishes are out there but not one fancy plate.  Wonder who is having a garage sale.

THEY WON FIRST PLACE

I know the two Michaels are strutting around today.    Everything turned out great for the Carson Valley Day Parade ; great weather, a good crowd and the float , a master piece, I might add ;  yeah, son Michael  built it.   Wonder what they will come up with for next year.

A new week starting, my how they fly by.   I spent Father's Day with two very nice fathers who deserved a great meal.  Gary did the cooking on the grill, two kinds of chicken that melted in your mouth.  Darcy makes a very tasty potato salad and her own salsa is to die for.    Their home is near the to of the mountain overlooking the Gold Beach bridge.  You can see the river and imagine all the fishing boats trolling away on a summers day.   The ocean view is spectacular and next time I am invited I will take my camera as it is a view that should be shared.    There are trees where the Osprey visit; rocky pathways with boulders of huge size.  How lucky they are to wake up of a morning and go out onto the lovely porch and sit quietly and enjoy the views.

Another view was a tour of Jock's garden.   This amazing man has a green thumb and it shows.   There isn't an inch of space wasted and his roses actually have a sweet essence you don't often find anymore.  The blueberry tree is loaded and the strawberries stretch from their boxed porch gardens to patches in the ground and are growing fat and juicy.   The garden is set up in rows and doing very well;  even a row of chard in for Pat and me.   He has a new planter box with tomatoes that are taking off like they know what they are doing.    It is going to be a banner year for fresh fruits and vegetables.    The hard work and dedication shows and if I were passing out medals, he'd get the medal of honor or the biggest blue ribbon in town.

I hope you have a garden and a nice view from where you are sitting.    I hope your new week proves to be fruitful.   If you follow the rules of the road, so to speak, and be kind, be sweet and be good, you will attract some likely honey bees, the good men and women you know, who love you and care . . . what a way to spend a week  better still a life time.    So go attract a few loving folks, give them a hug or two and 'grin and bear it' , hugs are to endured, and better still shared.   Hugs to all.

Flag Day Celebrations

In Delaware  there was Founders Day and Jo and John hung buntings on their front windows.  I am told the weather was perfect  and the fire works beautiful.

Up in Gardnerville, Nevada there was a parade . . . an annual affair in which son Michael and Michael Amacker dream  up ideas for a float.   Here son Michael is teasing a young friend.

The jail filled up in a hurry;  clever float, well built by son Michael.

A cowboy telling a tall tale.   I see son Michael through the cell window.  I gather he was the driver of the float.

Back in Brookings, daughter Pat took a ride over to the car wash and found the prices had gone sky high.  They had a different wash, cheaper so she decided to try it even though it meant she had to do the work.  The machine worked long enough to soap the car then nothing.  She had to drive home , bubbles and all, and finish the job in her driveway.   Imagine the smiles as she went by throwing bubbles in the air.

Up in Newport, Oregon they had a Scottish Festival and this is a young one in a kilt.

One of the games.  Looks like a huge tree.  Wonder how he did.  Maybe Angie will tell us as she was heading out the door for the games.

And Flag Day was celebrated in lots of different styles.    Up in Port Orchard they held a tea.   I don't have the  pictures to show, only a word from daughter Christine saying it was a success and she was taking time out to rest her feet.

I hope you celebrated Flag Day and had a lot of fun sharing time and space with those you love.    Today is another day of celebration, this time for Fathers . . . A day to remember a very special man, good, bad or indifferent, he did the best he knew how.   Be good, be kind, be gentle . . . remember as daughter Christine often says, "wherever you are, you are there."   Hopefully wherever you are you find the time, the energy and the love to share as it is what makes our world go around.   Hugs to all.

Pictures Say a Thousand Words

PICTURES SAY IT ALL;    THOUGHT A LITTLE POLITICS THIS MORNING MIGHT WAKE UP A FEW FOLKS SO THAT WHEN VOTING TIME COMES AROUND THEY WILL WANT TO GET OUT AND MAKE A 'CHANGE'.   YOU HAVE TO AGREE THE FIRST LADY SAYS WHAT  SHE MEANS AND MEANS WHAT SHE SAYS.

A terrific float

One of the Good Guys

Michele and her son Michael are in the Carson Valley Day Parade riding in that jail float that son Michael  built .  I'd love to be up there to see the parade and have some fun.  Annie needs a gun, and that Lone Ranger sure is a cutie.

It is Saturday, all day, hopefully the heat calms down up there in the valley as it has been in  ninety eight degrees all week.    The folks are in for a fun day.   Down here by the ocean, the sky is red, beautiful to look at but the old saying goes something like red sky in the morning sailor take warning.  Must be the after effect of the full moon and Friday the 13th. I'm off to have my coffee, wake up and turn on the news to see what has happened in the wee hours.

I stopped off to light a candle at the Star of the Sea only to find the doors locked.  A first.  In all of the years I have visited a church, this is the first time I found a locked door.   I would think they would be wide open inviting us in to say a prayer or two for all the ongoing horrors on going.   The knees work at home so as some would say 'no biggie.'

Make your seconds count, be good, be kind, be gentle, be aware, be a thinker and a doer so you can make your corner of the world a little brighter.    Don't forget smiles and hugs, hugs and smiles and they work so much better when shared. Hugs to all.

New Thoughts

New thoughts. . . like wishing prices were like this once again.

At last we meet him . . . Simple Simon met a pie man on his way to the fair. Simple Simon said to the pie man," let me taste your wares";  said the pie man to Simple Simon, " show me first your penny"; said Simple Simon to the pie man," indeed sir I haven't any".   Wow, I remembered that little verse.

It is just pure joy to be a Grandma;  I wouldn't trade my two for anything.

A truism.    Words that slip from the tongue are never allowed back;  they stay and permeate the air with ugliness if they are said with hurt in mind;  but open those lips and let a few simple compliments out and the air becomes sunshine bright like the smile you give with love.

Friend Marge was out with her camera and it was low tide.   She did a great job;  look at the reflection in the water.  a tide pool.

She caught this big fat gull sunning itself in the sun.

Friday morning, mid June already.  The seconds fly by as the fog lays low this morning.   It is a little chilly in the house this morning but that will end as soon as the sun decides to come out for the day.  Daughter Pat and I went to a real true yard sale  yesterday where things were strewn on a sheet on the lawn and free.  Paper back books were ten for a dollar, guess they really wanted to get rid of them.  I didn't buy any, though I did pickup one hard back, a book by Ernie Pyle, copyright 1944, titled "Brave Men".   It should be a great read as he was a war correspondent who traveled with the men.   The young folks were cleaning out a huge house filled with all kinds of 'stuff'' and people were coming in droves.  There were plastic boxes filled with all colors of yarn.   Daughter Christine would have bought them all as the price was fifty cents a skein and all wool yarn.   She would have had enough for all kinds of projects when teaching a class or two at the gallery.   I did find a cute dark blue purse which I thought I might put to use, but it turned my fingers blue and I have no idea why, so I am throwing it away.   Never heard of a purse turning fingers blue before; probably made in China.   The ride back through the back roads in the Fort Dick area was lovely.    The trees have grown and the weeds have turned to bushes, some with flowers or lacy like Queen Anne's lace.   We got to the corner to turn on to the highway for home just before school let out and dozens of buses were ready to pull out.  It would have been a slow ride if they beat  us to the corner.

Wonder what  you are doing this weekend.  I hope something fun.    Take your seconds one at a time.  The news is really horrific and Obama has fulfilled his promise to 'change' America.  The old adage of dividing and conquering comes to mind.  Who said 'we are in for a rough ride'?  Hopefully we will back our 'Tea Party"  folks and let them prove they have the ideals to turn things around.    Keep your eye on fact, not fiction.    Be good, do your good deed for today.   Put a smile on your face that shows the love in your heart and hug a friend today.  Hugs to all.
