If you are planning a summer trip I hear tell Crater Lake is really beautiful. I haven't been up to see it yet but it is on the list of things to do, places to go and putting the plan to action. Maybe before the summer is over. |

Dracula's Castle. Looks like it would be a good place to visit. Not sure I'd make all those rooms. Wonder what it really is like inside. Looks like a place Dracula would haunt . |

How about a ferry ride up in Washington state. They have a terrific system up there. Daughter Christine used to ride the ferry every day, first on a little one leaving from Port Orchard, over to Bremerton, then on to the big ferry that took the workers to Seattle every day. She made some friends and did more knitting than reading in those days. It added several hours to her work day but she never seemed to mind. |

The Coast of Mendocino in California. My niece Eileen took her mother and me for a vacation trip to Mendocino one year, many years ago. We had a ride to the coast over a road that twisted and turned but worth the trip once you hit the little town of Mendocino. I remember taking a walk out and about and visited the small shops to find one open and there was a champagne party, and a special sale going on. so I had a chance to browse. If I remember correctly, I purchased a lovely green jade bracelet for daughter Patricia as her birthday was due. . |

Leave it to Maxine to come up with another truism. Well, several of you keep telling me you are still glad I'm hanging around.
Here it is hump day. The young man from Brookings Glass came by and finished up the job. He did such a good job and now the windows are all sealed tight and the new screens are in. I can have a cross breeze and be comfortable as summer weather approaches. I didn't make lunch out with friends yesterday, but will today. It is so wonderful to have friends who are flexible. They go out to lunch most days just to get out of their house and see how the other half lives. Both in electric wheel chairs, both in their high seventies, both cheerful and full of life even though their muscles have stopped working. They have a van they wheel into, and can manage without anyone else; although they are thankful and gracious when help is offered. Two wonderful people who live life each day doing good deeds, making folks smile and they give such good hugs. Friends . . . the world goes around so much better when you share time with friends. Try it today and see if you don't feel like the 'winner' you are. Be special, it's your calling in life. Happy Hump Day!! Hugs to all. |
Here is a chart on hair cuts from the 1950's . . . which one did you go for? At this age, my lady barber, Gina, thinks I look best with very short hair and I may take a copy of this so she can practice and see which one looks best on me. I think she went for the crew cut last visit.
