Wishful thinking, a shark, a shark.
The attachment that came in yesterday was fascinating. We have no idea what kind of fish live in our seas. There were many more, some huge, some tiny , some beautiful and some ugly. I chose a few to show you so you could see for yourselves. I would imagine they are all edible, but after looking at a few I think I'd give up eating fish and go back to a hamburger. I haven't thought of Friday being fish day for a very long time. I wonder if it is still celebrated. I once heard it was a political move many centuries ago when the fishermen were having a hard time trying to sell their catch and the elders of the tribe thought up the idea to help them out . It might have been a good idea then, but it is really a good idea now as the price of meat is horrendous. Fifty two dollars for Prime Rib roast; twelve to fifteen a pound for a decent steak, and gold for a lamb chop . . . I'd say inflation has moved in big time. A good thing we have a fisherman in our family as we wouldn't be able to pay the price at the store. I wonder why the trades people think prices should go up when people are not even working, a slow economy and prices are higher still on the fruits and vegetables. I had some real true garden beets given to me yesterday and I cooked them up and devoured them... delicious. Thank God for those who garden and share. Weekend coming up, time to tend the gardens. The weather will be changing and there is much to do before the cold settles in. Mid September and the trees are losing their leaves, raking time, a fun time. Mary Beth is off visiting in New Hampshire and has promised some New England Fall color photos. I'll share them when she sends them on. She is off on a hiking adventure, sound good, maybe you will put your walking shoes on and go for a hike this weekend. Maybe you have a nice park nearby and you can go and enjoy some of the beauty that surrounds you. Be good, be kind, be gentle, just be YOU. Hugs to all. |
