Memories

Yes, I really did own one of these.   It was down stairs in the basement and if I remember correctly it did a great job .   I was filling it up doing the weekly wash and left two little girls up in the kitchen, not far away and I was listening to them giggling and dancing around only to go up the stairs and find them having a parade.  They had opened the cupboard doors, taken out a box of cereal , some corn starch and spewed the contents all over the place.   It was a real clean up job and a lesson about leaving children for a few minutes. . . oh what they could do in seconds.

Don't know if this is an Atwater Kent or not, but it looks familiar.  Brings back memories of the Big Band era, listening to Glen Miller and his band, one of my favorites.

Yep, I pinned up my hair and slept in those little pins, didn't seem to bother my sleep and it didn't do a lot for the hair do but we thought we were very glamorous.

Jacks . . . fun, and we played a lot with them.    It got to be quite a skill and we got plenty of hand exercise.

We wouldn't fit in these today.   I remember them well.   We had a teacher that walked up and down the aisles with a ruler in her hands.   She got our attention.
What would we do without memories.   The mind retains them all and we can go back in time whenever we choose.    There are a couple of attachments that come through that have all kinds of memory pictures that spark a thought or two of long ago.   Fun, and good memories.   Growing up in Depression years meant everyone was poor and had to struggle but that was the way it was.   Growing up in a 'league of nation' neighborhood was a privilege  and all the neighbors kept an eye on the other .  If help was needed it was there and if you could give help then you were there too.  You went to school to learn, not to play, and if you got in trouble in school the punishment at home was a lot more frightening.   Church was important not matter what denomination.  We have seen a lot of changes in our world, a lot of improvements for the better, but then some changes that have not been good for us.  Hopefully we pick and choose the changes that are good for us and know the difference between good and bad.   Life goes on , one day at a time, make your memories each day and improve your own life style.    Be good, be kind, be gentle.  Do one good deed a day.   Light a candle for those in need and donate some extra food to the food bank for those who are wanting.   Donate a few dollars to the Wounded Warriors as the need is great.   And . . . give yourself a treat as you deserve it.   Hugs to all.
