Spirit

About time someone said so. . . we are usually chastised for wanting some down time, but the truth of the matter is that we all need down time.  We need time to rest our minds and our bodies.

Bravely said, and isn't she a beauty.

We work hard to get to second childhood  so be sure when you get there you make up for trying to be an old fuddy duddy.

This old gal seems to think she is going for a ride.

Another week gone and we have gotten a bit cooler here, the furnace is on.  The bills will get bigger and the weather will become constant as we head for the holiday season.   Winter will be here before we know it and the rakes will be exchanged for snow shovels.   Time to think of checking out the closet as we need to get the heavy coats, the boots out, and don't forget to build up your book collection for some winter reading.  I have the new Ken Follett "Winter of the World" , the second of his trilogy and the third one is already out.  What a masterful story teller.  Don't forget to look over your collection of recipes and make your list of the ingredients you need to 'bake up a storm of goodies' .  My neighbor, La Verne tells me she is going shopping for the makings of her famous and delicious fruit cakes.   Some folks turn up their nose at fruit cake, not me, one of my favorites.  I have mince meat on my list so I can bake up some of those filled mince meat cookies .  just follow a sugar cookie recipe for rolled dough cookies, cut the dough with a cookie cutter you like, fill them with the mince meat, crimp the edges, bake and enjoy.  So, mid October is not to early to think about upcoming holidays.  They will be here faster than you think.   Know being prepared is half the battle and it gives you time for some 'down time' to rest between shopping trips.  I really am not trying to rush the season, it is just that time has a way of going by so fast.  Seconds fly by and we hardly realize it.
Today is a good day to get one good deed done;  one kitchen drawer cleaned;   maybe even bake something good and invite a family member or a friend in . . . or both. . . make your today special just like YOU.   Hugs to all.
